We are anesthesiologists.
Anesthesiologists are medical doctors. We have years of additional residency training and extensive pediatric experience. Such expertise is proven to improve outcomes. This results in improved safety for your loved one, less pain for your child after the procedure, and faster recovery. Learn more about us. We are passionate about pediatric anesthesia. Children are not “little adults.” Children deserve gentle, compassionate care. Children respond very differently than adults to sedation and general anesthesia. The margin for error in a child’s care is very limited. Safe adult medications may be lethal in children. The equipment necessary to safely care for children is different. It is not “one size fits all.” |
There are many options for preventing and treating pain during dental procedures. These range from local numbing shots like Lidocaine, to medications by mouth like Valium, to inhaled drugs given by mask like Nitrous Oxide or "laughing gas." Many of these may be safely given by dentists, but may not be right for your child. For complete pain prevention, to ensure your child is "totally asleep" and doesn't remember the surgery, or for safe treatment of a very young child, more may be needed. We are medical doctors specialized in putting children to sleep for surgical procedures, a process termed general anesthesia.
